A recorder player creates a sound by closing their lips over the mouth hole and blowing air down the tube.

It is like a tube in two or three sections with a headpiece and shaped mouth hole at one end, a round open hole at the other end and holes.

A recorder is a wind instrument in varying sizes made from wood or plastic. Now you need to understand what a recorder and piano are to understand the recorder notes in relation to piano notes. Musicians learn the positions and note lengths whilst learning their instrument. And so if a two beat A is required then the picture of the minim will be placed on the stave in position of the A required. The first few note lengths which people learn and play are the crotchet ( 1 beat ), minim ( 2 beats ) and semibreve ( 4 beats ). They are given names which correspond to a number of beats or counts and they have different pictures. Notes vary in the length of time they are sounded. Notes are given specific positions on a set of five lines called a stave to indicate which A or B or C etc to play. Each of the note names are associated with flats and sharps eg A sharp and A flat, B sharp and B flat etc. The musical alphabet repeats itself for the note range of the musical instrument. The names of the musical notes are A B C D E F G which are the first seven letters of the alphabet and called the musical alphabet. It tells the musician to do something on his or her musical instrument to produce a sound of the note name and note length as indicated on the sheet of music. So what is a note? What is a Recorder and Piano? What are recorder notes in relation to piano notes? Let us explore.Ī note is a sign in music. Musical instruments have unique sounds which are formed by playing notes, in varying ways. Outside of PCMag, I write fiction, poetry, humor, and essays on culture. When a musical instrument is played we can hear sounds in the form of music. Though I love that I get to write about the tech industry every day, it’s touched by gender, racial, and socioeconomic inequality and I try to bring these topics to light. I put great care into writing gift guides and am always touched by the notes I get from people who’ve used them to choose presents that have been well-received. I’ve had the pleasure of talking tech with Jeff Goldblum, Ang Lee, and other celebrities who have brought a different perspective to it. I strive to explain topics that you might come across in the news but not fully understand, such as NFTs and meme stocks. Or maybe you’ve just seen my Bernie meme.

You might have seen me on TV talking about these topics or heard me on your commute home on the radio or a podcast. I’ve been at PCMag since 2011 and have covered the surveillance state, vaccination cards, ghost guns, voting, ISIS, art, fashion, film, design, gender bias, and more.

My title is Senior Features Writer, which is a license to write about absolutely anything if I can connect it to technology (I can). One thing to note: For any apps that also handle transcription, there are privacy concerns (Opens in a new window)-so proceed with caution when recording anything that you want to remain confidential. Many of the apps are free, and the rest are relatively low-cost compared with purchasing a digital recorder.

These apps range from basic, easy-to-operate choices to ones with a full range of features, including AI-based transcription, that pros will appreciate. I put in my own recommendations, talked to my colleagues at PCMag about what they use, and researched what else is out there. When you search "voice recorders" in an app store, it can be hard to sort through all of the choices to find one that has exactly the features you need. I usually have two or three, since I rely on them for interviews and transcription. Even if you're not on this list, having one on your home screen can come in handy.
